Ross Levinsohn
Ross Levinsohn is the sports Illustrated CEO and The Arena Group CEO. He is one of the most respected media executives in America. He is a venture capitalist and an entrepreneur.
Ross was born in 1963 in Fresno, California. He lives on Richmond Hill in New York City.
In 2009, he was named CEO of the New Jersey Nets. In December 2010, Ross was promoted to Executive Vice President of Entertainment and
Conference Broadcasting at AOL Time Warner. Meanwhile, Levinsohn had been a National Board of Directors member for the National Hockey League and a board director for Major League Soccer (MLS).
Before joining Time Warner in 2009, Levinsohn worked as executive vice president at ESPN, overseeing programming, operations, and production and distribution. At ESPN, he helped launch “SportsCenter,” “NFL Live,” and “NHL Overtime.” He also launched ESPN Radio’s KROQ 101.9 FM in Los Angeles. In 2004, Levinsohn launched The Arena Group, which he sold in 2006 to sports suite executives Jim Dolan and David Checketts.
In December 2010, Levinsohn was promoted to Executive Vice President of Entertainment and Conference Broadcasting at AOL Time Warner. At the time of his promotion, Levinsohn had been a member of the National Board of Directors for the National Hockey League and a board director for Major League Soccer (MLS).
Levinsohn has also served as Chairman for Town Sports International, which operates more than 20 health clubs in New York City under the brand name “New York Sports Clubs.”
As the sports Illustrated CEO, Levinsohn is responsible for the day-to-day operations of 24 Hour Fitness and several outposts of the franchise throughout the country. He oversees all aspects of the world’s leading 24 Hour Fitness network and its more than 7,000 franchises in North America and worldwide.
Ross Levinsohn has a Bachelor of Arts degree from American University. He serves on several corporate, philanthropic and sports boards including the National Hockey League Board of Governors, the National Basketball Association Board of Governors, and the John Jay College of Criminal Justice Alumni Council. He also serves as a Trustee for Cornell University and Cornell Tech.
