Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation’s Changes in Operations During the Covid-19 Pandemic
During the Covid-19 pandemic, RIOC made changes to ensure their staff remained safe and healthy for their benefit and that of the company. The NYC governor had issued guidelines on how organizations could operate during the pandemic. NY Forward advised RIOC to host only 50% of its workers to align with the newly introduced safety protocols. That made the company’s management reduce their onsite staff members from 136 to 86.
The firm’s administration noted that it met all the NY Forward guidelines by restructuring employee responsibilities and using available resources. RIOC partitioned its staff working area using plexiglass, according to NY Forward recommendations.
The Changes Made by RIOC In Compliance with NY Forward Safety Recommendations
- RIOC’s management team, including the AVP of Operations, Altheria Jackson, worked remotely and on-site to ensure the company implemented all the safety procedures according to the Governor’s directions. Altheria Jackson ensured that all departments provided measures to keep their staff healthy while continuing their daily business operations.
- Different departments, such as transportation, grounds, human resources, facilities, and public safety, continued operating throughout the pandemic. The departments’ leaders collaborated with their juniors to continue providing the company with quality services throughout the period.
- Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation termed the company’s grounds, buses, IT, public safety, youth center, and human resources essential services. Therefore, the employers in those departments continued to operate from their offices during the pandemic.
- The finance, legal, special projects, and organizational efficiency teams would work remotely to ease congestion in the company’s offices.
- The legal department continued providing services during the pandemic, and the staff attended committee and board meetings. Additionally, the department’s employees continued drafting and reviewing the client legal documentation they needed to execute various contracts and other businesses.
- Thankfully, the finance department met the company’s expectations by producing timely reports and promptly processing invoices and bills.
- The RIOC’s organizational efficiency and special projects staff members mobilized community organizations to comply with all safety protocols announced by the NY Forward so that all organizational programs would resume operations safely. The department used Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation safety procedures and processes to use the best practices to meet its goals.
