Robert Kraft: New England Patriots Owner
For decades, Robert Kraft has been one of the most influential figures in professional sports. In addition to his control of the New England Patriots, he is also the chairman and CEO of The Kraft Group. Time magazine called him “one of America’s most successful business leaders.” Kraft was born into a family in Brookline, Massachusetts, on June 5th, 1941.
Robert Kraft has become the owner of the New England Patriots. He and his family are responsible for bringing the team to its undisputed success. For example, Kraft led the Patriots to six Super Bowl championships, more than any other team in NFL history. Before purchasing the franchise in 1994, Kraft was a successful business executive. In addition, he is a longtime member of the New England community and a philanthropist. The Kraft family has been in business for more than 200 years. They are best known for making paper and packaging products. Today, they continue to work with their company’s main product in Massachusetts.
Also, during his tenure with the Patriots, he has hired coaches such as Bill Parcells, Pete Carroll, and Gregg Williams. Kraft also pioneered the idea of having two head coaches on a team, recently followed by Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson.
Robert Kraft’s career started with the Rand-Whitney Group, a Worcester-based packaging company owned by Hiatt Rand and Stephen Whitney. He then went to work for Papermate, a stationery company, as a sales executive. Robert Kraft and Rand had previously worked together at Rand-Whitney. Kraft eventually became the vice-president of marketing in 1968 and president of the company in 1969.
In 1983, he moved on to start International Forest Products. Kraft founded International Forest Products to import paper products from overseas companies into the United States. The company also imported pallets from China and other countries. In 1988, In 1985, Kraft bought land near the stadium site and built a small headquarters facility. He named it Patriot Place, which later became Patriot Place.
In addition, Robert Kraft is a significant investor in the Boston Celtics, Massachusetts’ Major League Baseball team. He is also an owner of the New England Revolution of MLS (Major League Soccer) and owner of the New England Patriots stadium Gillette Stadium.
