How Filmmaker Eamon O’Rourke Is Making a Difference in Society

Eamon O’Rourke has been in the film and television industry for more than ten years. The Brooklyn-based film director has worked as an actor, scriptwriter, and ghostwriter. One of his career highlights in his early days was working as a production assistant in making the award-winning movie “The Wolf of Wall Street.”

Since joining the film industry, O’Rourke has interacted with some of the best filmmakers. He has also spent much time working behind the scenes in sets, shooting, and directing. His role model in film is the award-winning director Jonathan Demme. What impressed O’Rourke most about Demme’s filmography was their diversity. He was always creating something unique and exploring different genres.

Eamon O’Rourke is a strong advocate of diversity. He has been passionate about the subject and wanted to be more inclusive in his projects. He released a film called “Asking for It” in 2022. The movie follows a group of vigilante women who are out on a mission for revenge. The film challenges the typical characteristics of Hollywood action films. Unlike in other movies where men save women, “Asking for It” depicts women as strong and looking out for each other.

In making the film, O’Rourke wanted to show the power of diversity. It starred women characters and also included actors from different races. There were also members of the LGBTQ+ and Native Americans. The film was acclaimed by many and even won the ReFrame Stamp award for its diversity. Although he was thrilled about winning, O’Rourke admits that team effort had been key in making the film successful. While making a film, it is primarily directors and actors who get much credit. However, other crew members like caterers, production assistants, and technicians play a pivotal role.

O’Rourke is also an activist. He has worked as a volunteer with the Legal Hand organization. Through this group, he has helped people from vulnerable areas in getting jobs, access healthcare, shelter, and legal aid. He has also helped people with criminal backgrounds and recovering drug addicts. His efforts include teaching improvisational theater and acting. He also assists in fighting against drug abuse by offering fentanyl test strips in NYC.
