He has dedicated his life to helping others and has been very involved in many different local charities, such as assisting the Houston Food Bank. He is also a big supporter of the United Way and has devoted time to its various programs since 2007. He has also worked with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, a charity he fights for very hard. He has managed to raise over $250,000 for the group in just two years and has been an active member of the board for more than ten years. McGaghey has also embarked on several business ventures to help others as well. He founded Texas Web Solutions, which has provided consulting services to companies looking for ways to improve their online image and presence and handle their online presence more professionally. He co-founded The Church at Market Place Church with his wife, Mary Ellen, in 1996.

Gary McGaghey has been active in many different organizations throughout his lifetime. He currently holds the position of chairman for the Texas Financial Planning Association and has been on their board of governors for the past 12 years. He is also on the executive committee of The Society for Financial Education and Professional Development, which gathers professionals from all over the world to discuss financial education. Gary has been on their board of directors since 2006.
