Bernard Acoca Appointed as Zaxby’s New CEO

The American fast food franchise Zaxby’s has disclosed Bernard Acoca’s hiring as its new CEO. Bernard Acoca, who formerly held the position of President of the Teavana brand, which is owned by Starbucks, and who spent seven years in various executive positions with Pizza Hut, is expected to assume the position in January.

It’s a significant turning point in the history of Zaxby’s that Acoca has taken over as CEO from co-founder Zach McLeroy. For over 30 years, McLeroy presided as Zaxby’s CEO and chairman. His efforts led to Zaxby’s becoming a prosperous quick-service chicken chain in the United States, with over 900 outlets spread across 17 states.

Zaxby’s CEO had a long history with the company, having worked at the chain since its inception in 1991.To fully capitalize on the numerous prospects open to Zaxby’s, according to McLeroy, the CEO job must be externalized. The considerable operational, marketing, and strategic experience of Acoca, he continued, will be crucial in boosting the chain’s national reach.

Acoca expressed his excitement to join Zaxby’s on such a momentous occasion while discussing his new position. He also lauded McLeroy for creating a distinctive culture at the company’s core and expanding the brand beyond merely being a chain of quick-service chicken restaurants.

Bernard Acoca spent two years leading El Pollo Loco before joining Zaxby’s, where he successfully led the restaurant business through the COVID-19 outbreak. During his experience in the F&B sector, he has also developed a solid track record of leading and expanding worldwide companies.

In 1990, McLeroy and partner Tony Townley established Zaxby’s. According to Technomic statistics, the chain had a 6.4% increase in 2020 compared to the prior year thanks to a range of menu options such as sandwiches, fingers, and wings mixed with distinctive sauces. Zaxby’s hopes to dominate the fast food market with the aid of Acoca and the large investment in the business by Goldman Sachs.  Go to this page for more information about Bernard Acoca.
