In a world where free speech, parental rights, marriage, the sanctity of life and religious freedom, are all under attack, Alliance Defending Freedom is committed to going to court to fight for people’s right to enjoy all of those things.

Formerly known as Alliance Defense Fund, it was started by a small collection of Christian leaders 30 years ago, and so far, the organization has grown to became one of the planet’s biggest legal organizations. They stand up in courts all over the world and argue on behalf of oppressed groups no matter their size. The ADF has won cases in the U.S. Supreme Court, Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe and many other courts.

Defending Free Speech

One area where Alliance Defending Freedom is a world leader is fighting for people’s right to free speech. The organization fought for conservatives, Shia Muslims, libertarians, Yazidis, pro-conservationists, Jehovah Witnesses, pro-lifers and many other unpopular groups’ right to speak their piece in the public square or college campuses. The legal team at Alliance Defending Freedom is fearless. They have fought to stop genocide of groups all over the world. The organization even stood up for people who don’t believe in God to speak freely about their position.

Some Notable Cases

The Alliance Defending Freedom won many cases in front of the Supreme Court. In 2016, the ADF won the right of Chike Uzuegbunam to share his Christian faith peacefully with other students on campus. When California passed a law requiring a pro-life family planning clinic to tell women about free and low-cost abortions, the ADF won the right for the clinics not to have to violate their deepest convictions. Colorado punished Jack Phillips, a cake artist, for refusing to make a cake celebrating same-sex marriage.
